Well, that was part of my job back in Greece... removing nasty viruses... Having to deal with systems that re-installation was a big NO, I had to do tricks like that, and more... like, Live Repair CD's, editing registry, hosts, unlocking admin rights and passwords to regain access from viruses like "Windows Antivirus 2010, etc...
