GRID 2

Postby prodigy » Sun 17. Feb 2013, 14:52

GRID 2 will be released in May, graphically it looks very good, but there will be no cockpit view, what released a lot of negative publicity within GRID lovers. There will be hood / bonnet view, so it would be manageable to play it with wheel. Either way, it already works with D-Box, I guess it uses same data as first GRID so we will be able to run it with our simulators.

yes , i have been waiting as well, considering i have played the first grid 3.5 times.
It will probably use the Live for Speed plug in.

I have never been a fan of cockpit view, for me it obscures too much, but looks impressive.
I run with bonnet view 90% or the time.

looks arcady but fun, should be good online for "jump in and go"action.

Very disasppointing from Codemasters.
This was the reason I didn't bother with DiRT Showdown cos it didn't have a cockpit view. I wont buy this if the view is missing.

We will miss the shaking tree, no not with me

The window wiper for dirt and the jungle ralley is most used in my simulator and visitors. While rFactor is too complex and hard to drive the detailed cockpit view has won the game compared to any other view.

Go to the codemaster forum and contact the forum leaders. They do help with wishes directly to the developers.

There's been an ongoing thread at Codies forums for months after they confirmed no cockpit view, they reckoned it may upset only 5% of their players/customers.
It seems they wont change their mind :(
Who cares...with the amazing year we have coming up for racers there's plenty for everyone :D

This calulation is very easy.
Codemasters has some press releases with 71 millions in pfund turnover.
Lets say 5 mills for a dirt release. A quarter million if that 5% do not buy that game. Loss for a view! That view will be very expensive for them.

Remember that Dirt Showdown is pure arcade. Auto trans, health and boost gauges only. But real good fun!
They didnt really design this game for sim racers in mind, but by golly! The motion is great fun for smash up derby!

I am one of the 95% that doesnt like cockpit view I have to admit. I play bonnet view almost all the time with sometimes bumper view.
For me, and its probably me, I dont like the distraction of cockpit, but thats just me.

The game with it's driving model is mainly targeted for wider audiance, not for hardcore simers, it will be mostly arcadish game, easy to play that will go on the consoles too, so on one side I can understand why they didn't include the cockpit view. But on the other side, I don't understand why they removed it while they have it functioning normally in first GRID. It's just a camera position, I don't think it was so hard for them to implement it..

I built my rig to feel engrossed (triple screens etc) so it just feels out of place to be in anything other than cockpit view. Now I've made a roof etc I almost have to climb in :D
I would have thought Showdown would have been perfect for cockpit view as it would be a great feeling seeing a car coming straight for you :D
Dirt 2 and 3 are arcadey and both had cockpit view. I understood Showdown used Dirt 3 engine which is why it was a surprise the view was missing.
Dirt 2 is still my fav and the motion is sublime :)
