Try the response of one actuator SNC5 with a game

Postby agrumone » Thu 16. Jan 2014, 10:02

Hey everyone!!!

I would like to try to see the motion of a SCN5 while I play with rfactor demo (or eventually another free game).

I inform you about my setup:

One acutator SCN5 (150mm)

serial communication with serial/USB converter

when I start Xsim converter the actuator is detected automatically without any problem.

I have copied the .dll from "xsim/plugin" to "rfactor/plugin" folder

When I start rFactor by X Sim extractor and push start button in X sim converter I can see that there is a movement if I change the position of the slider in Math Setup (calibration offset of this axis)

BUT when I play there is any movement by the actuator. I become aware also that there is any data flow between SCN5 and my PC.

Someone know what could be the problem???

Maybe I have to set something in Math setup but I don't have a clear idea....

waiting for a reply

Thanks in advance

Hi,

first please check if there are changing values in the input section of the converter while you are on track. Use rfactor in windowed mode and place the converter on the screen too (only needed if you use one pc for game and converter).

If the values are changing you can setup your math with effects - otherwise the scn cant move.
In the software & documentation section of this forum is a short video how to do this. For the first test please set the intensity of the effects to 0% and raise them if you are ready with finding the correct math values.

Make shure your scn5 is setup like said in the scn-software and hardware thread of the forum.

I have just noticed that when I start rFactor windowed without xsimplugin.dll in rFactor/plugins the game starts to function while with xsimplugin.dll in rfactor/plugins the game doesn't start :?: :?: :?:

There is no need to put the plugin manually. With a fresh install of rafctor - start the game one time - after open the extractor and use the autoscan!

The plugin should be inserted automatically into the plugin folder of rfactor!

The training tutorial might help you.

In case of the SCN5 there are some special points to *
1.) check the adapter update rate, a good adapter can reach 160 to 200 position updates per second. (shown in the plugin)
2.) speed up the ingame data, go to the extractor -> settings-> polling; should be 5 or 10 ms.
3.) speed up the converter update rate. Artificial break of synaptrix set to 10 or 5 ms. (Program setup)

The benchmark will also show you the agility.

After this you have vibrations.
If a answer is correct or did help you for a solution, please use the solve button.
