Noise on power supply !

Postby kbssa » Wed 3. Oct 2012, 17:07

Hi guys !!

I am having a problem with my two power supplies (12v 16A each).

I made a 2dof simulator (SFGT) with wiper motors and tronic's AMC 1.5 and Hb 1.2, the problem is that when I turn on all the stuff, the power supplies starts to make a noise and in both motors too, but if I turn on just one power supply there is an almost inaudible noise.

The noise is higher when the two leds of the h-bridge are turned on at the same time !

There is not way to play with that noise in my ear.

I think maybe the PWM frequency that is causing the problem, but I am not sure.

If someone knows what is causing the noise or have any suggestions to eliminate that noise from hell , please let me know !!

Thank's

Sounds to me like short circuit of the motors through their housing... You need to do some isolation work there...

Hi tronic !

I would say it is not short circuit of the motors through their housing, because I isolated them and I did some continuity tests with my multimeter and they are not connected through GND.

I was thinking maybe one power supply is transmiting noise to the other through the AC line. What do you think about that ? is that possible ?

And waht do you think about the PWM frequency is causing the noise ?

I forgot to say that my power supplies are switched ones.

Thanks for replying man !

Did you solved the problem of noise?

Motors or power supply, I think you should discard one by one.

No, I did not.

I tried to turn on only one side of hbridge, but no success.

I am almost sure that the noise is caused by the pwm frequency.

I will put the 22mhz crystal to see if noise go way !

thanks for replying man !

Ok,

I use 22 crystal on AMC 1.5 and no noise for me. Let's discarding things and do a diagnostic. Always is interesting solve this kind of problems, maybe others can have same someday. ;)
