How big the motor need?

Postby kubing » Sat 29. Sep 2012, 04:07

Hi guys,
After 3 years with wiper motors now i'm looking forward to re-design my sim and controller. After a lot of research and reading i decide to use gearmotor for my new sim. The question is How big the motor required to lift about 180-200kg weight at 60-80RPM? now i'm working on electronic part to make sure they are compatible with VFD. I use Siemens MICROMASTER Vector 6SE3212-1BA40 with 0.5hp induction motor for testing purpose. Please give me a suggestion :D

Hi Kubing ,

I don't know if that can help you.I'm still connecting a 2 dof simulator for a friend:
http://www.x-sim.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=293
In this similator 2dof there is no lifting and the nominal output speed is 40 rpm at 50Hz.

8-)

Why you selected output speed of 60/80 rpm?
What decided to make this choice?
Can you give me your opinion and why?

Thanks for the info and link. Due to compensate the pid loop refresh time i realy need a fast motor. My controller update the sensor reading at 1khz. Is there anyone use this motor SEW R27DR63L4? What is the model of your motor guys? 40 rpm 0.5hp?

Hi Kubing ,

In this post you can watch a SEW R37DR63L4 with the specicifications:
http://www.x-sim.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=132&start=160#p2011

In the other post for the simulator I made for my friend that are 2 SEW RF27DT71D4 0,37 kW with 38 rpm at 50Hz.
http://www.x-sim.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=293#p2058

For simulator 2dof with 2 motors which a universal joint under the seat I know that 2 SEW R27DR63S4 0,12 kW gear ratio 100 (12 rpm at 50 Hz) are enough !!
In your case that is a 3 dof with lifting but with 0,37 kW or 0,5 kW . With 0,37 kW that is 3 times more that the 2dof with 0,12kW
I can't at this moment better help you as this post ( projects not yet finished!!)
The most difficult point is to choose the right gear ratio. The question is how many turns need the motor for running as well for our application.
For an half turn output gear shaft the motor make 50 turns with a gear ratio of 100 and so high is the gear ratio so high is the torque!!
If I can finish the 2 dof simulator I will have a good comparaison .I know that Riton has a simulator with 14 rpm at the output shaft.
Best Regards

Thanks vicpopo and friends, tonight i've learn something from you guys. 0.5hp is our power range here. So i want to order next 2 driver for the motor. I better fast before its gone. 0.37kw x 3 with counter weight spring from bottom of the platform should be enough right? What is the rate of your driver?

That awsome Riton. I consider the price is little bit high for the bigger motor and driver. SEW motor is great but here in Malaysia only palm oil and automotive company use them and the price with shipping is unbelievable high for me. Driver is not a big problem to me. for Siemens i can get around $50. with great spec input 1phase 240,Output 3 Phase 240V 0-650Hz 0.37Kw. any suggetion for cheap ac motor guys?
