Sega Scud Race 2DOF Cabinet

Postby Petar2 » Sun 14. Dec 2014, 11:15

My name is Manuel and I am a big fan of arcades, pimball and games.
A while ago I had the opportunity to purchase recreational driving scud race sega.
3436
At first my idea was coupled on the G27 and ps3, but then I met this great forum and no going back

There was that I started to take all the information I could and refine my project.
I decided on a 2DOF more than anything to simplify my project, since it is the first time I get into something.
For electronic arduino I chose one and a ibt-2 as bridges H.
3440
As I chose the same engines that Racingmat recommended the smolka Nidec and two power supply DPB600-bp hp 24v working in series.
3439
Once chosen the system, I started collecting parts and design my project.
Look thought many projects and how to pair my drawer structure within the recreational.
In the end the best way to find my design was to prototype structure in wooden slats.
3437
3438
When I had all clear steps I decided to spend the mock metal, and in a couple of days this is the result.

With the structure already at home, I begin to assemble the poenciometros and again follow the example of racingmat (if something works, why change it?).
I also do home hall sensors, potentiometers using a base for the experiment.
Although the view may seem rudimentary, its accuracy is amazing and are multi lap, which helps a lot when set, if something goes wrong and the motor without control, do not break.

Once everything is working, I get to make the operation of coupling.
Enter the structure in recreational and cut wood top where previously rested the seat.
So I take the scroll and to work.

Once all cut, introduce the structure in the drawer and tested everything fits and nothing can cause breakage of any component of both the structure and the machine.

I also manage to couple the pedales.disassembled the original pedal the G27 and screwed directly to the metal frame of the machine in reverse as in a real car position.

Currently, the simulator is fully functional, although I'm still with the aesthetics of the "restoration".
I write it in quotes, because it is not a restoration of the most common, but always working on one of my machines I like the aesthetic look their best.
I'm adapting the bezel of the screen and the bezel of the panel.

At first it was not clear which firmware to use and was testing with Prilad, but with DIY hall sensors, sensitively and with the firmware created by Sirnoname, going as silk to make much better resolution of 1024 positions.

I leave a small video with a still very basic profile where I'm working.
I hope apologize poor quality video and sound, I only have to make mobile video and my little son as a cameraman ..... ;)

Hello again.
Due to illness, this was stranded in time.
Now almost 10 years later, I return to the project, cleaning and reviewing all the electronics and starting again from scratch with software.
I had the simulator in a store collecting dust, now I have moved and I had to dismantle it for transport.
Now that I am halfway assembled, I have reviewed the electronics and everything seems to be in order.....incredible after so much time.
I'm installing a couple of games and the X-sim software in my house and next day I'm going to connect and configure a profile to check if everything is really correct.

I will keep you informed and ask questions again, I no longer remember anything I learned, it's time to read manuals. This time this will become a finished simulator.

greetings to all
