This looks great!!! I would like to see a video with it in motion...!! Nice Job!

And yes.. Lucky guy... I wish I had such equipment just given to me like that!

A.C. motors ftw! ;)

Can't wait to see this one up and running!

Hi everybody,
I updated the topic http://www.x-sim.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=293#p2058 with pictures and ideas for ''how I mount the magnets '' for using a hall sensor as potentiometer.

Hey - just wondering if anybody's noticed any AC motor heating problems when running them with VFD inverter drives? The reason I ask is because most AC induction motors are *not* designed to run the low/zero speeds used in motion simulators because their integrated fans don't work well there. Anybody noticed any problems so far?

Hopefully you'll get a response or two from members that are actually running AC motors but just in case - I have previously seen a posting (can't remember which web forum) which had photo's of the AC motors. On each motor the plate over the connection box had been removed and a 12V DC fan fitted, to provide cooling directly into the motor.

Hi,

I will check this point whis this simulator .I don't have termal driving in these motors , if the temperature will go up 70 °C I will put fans on the motors .It's also dangerous if someone touch them.
When I look at ckas configurations , the old one have fans fitted on the motors and the new one any .For the old one if you look at these fans there are not big in comparaison of the motor power .
The ckas first price 2dof Thruxim (motor 0,12 kW) has no fan fitted.
With an inverter configured in Vector Flow control the Ac motors will be drive in all parameters we need for motion.
I tested the output shaft torque is uncredible!!With very low rpm (low frequence) you can't move anything.
Best Regards

in the industry, these engines are also used in similar conditions.
There are forced ventilation unit to cool the engine.

I have one on my engines forced continuous ventilation to avoid heating of the motor.

This setup is so sick. Please try not to kill yourself :D your motors would be strong enough!

With a fitting math-setup this has to be awesome.
