Hi Mat!I had quite a busy time (work and kids) since my last post, but I managed to finish the G-seat in between. I glued acoustic foam on the inside to minimize the sound of the four motors and also installed fans for the h-bridges (although I don't think they really need them because they merely get a bit warm). I finally covered the seat with black faux fur and repainted the outside.
There is still some fine tuning to improve in the converters settings, but everything works just fine already! I was positively surprised at how realistic and intense the experience is, I really didn't expect it to bee so good! Especially "pulling Gs", where all four flaps move together to simulate positive Gs is great fun! I am also very happy that I did include the seat belts (they tension under negative Gs or when decelerating). When flying upside down it really feels like hanging in the seat!
I also added the G-seat to my simpit website:
http://meintourenbuch.net/simpit/g-seat (There you find some additional pictures of it).
The only thing I do regret, is that I was so eager to try it out when fully finished, that I forgot to make a video of the flaps in motion before I put the cushion and the coating on the seat. Now there is not much to see from the outside. Maybe, if I have more time on my hands some day, I'm going to strip them off again to make a good video.
Are you planning to build a similar G-seat like mine? I'd be more than happy to help you out! Just let me know, which part or detail I should explain here.
