US motor source

Postby wevie » Sat 9. Mar 2013, 08:13

Greetings. Been reading your forum for a few days and planning a simple first build.

Looks like the simplest way to begin would be with a couple of jrks and two decent motors. The often recommended Motion Dynamics Worm Drive Motor 12V/24V 200W, 180 RPM, 20Nm Torque looks like a wonderful option... until I add shipping. This nearly doubles the cost of the motor.

I've done some quick searching, but didn't come up with anything...

Is there a comparable motor available from a US supplier?

If not, what is a motor I can use (window/wiper motors seem to be underpowered) that is 1.) affordable and 2.) not extremely noisy?

Couldn't find "foriske" but I found "floriske"

Read through both:

and

http://x-sim.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=617

I see that he wasn't happy with the wiper motors and that he did upgrade. Just didn't see the specific motors he used. I only saw this ebay link:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/DC-Motor-ZYT90-155-12-Fits-MCP4-Gearbox-/380393781762?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item58913c7a02

Which is ended and not in the US. Tried searching for ZYT90-155-12 but haven't had any luck from a US supplier.

In searching for a suitable gearmotor, I'm gathering that I want (proper voltage, of course) about 180 RPM and about how much torque?

The first one looks pretty much same as ZYT90-155-12, just a bit weaker in RPM and Watts but still strong. I saw people here including myself don't even using 100% from ZYT90's, they are very strong.
