Planning a 2dof sim, which motors to get?

Postby johnnyfive » Wed 9. Oct 2013, 21:31

Hi.

I'm new to the scene and I'm planning to build a 2dof motion simulator.

For the past days, I've been reading and watching a bunch of projects on this site and I'm finding it difficult to assimilate all the information available.

I'm focusing the wiper motors solution and I have little clue which motors to get. I live in Portugal and I'm focusing my searches on http://www.ebay.pt. Searching for wiper motors I get a bunch of results...and prices from ~30€ to hundreds. Can someone give me hints with examples if possible? Can these motor sustain and actuate 130KG (myself, platform and a playseat)?

I'm an experienced Arduino user and I even built some simulator dashboards, for example:

Cheers

P.S I might have missed some posts that deal with this matter...help ;)

Hi Jonhyfive!

Yes, there are so much information!
Do you intend to innovate? or if you are looking for reliability, follow existing simulator description!
You can have a look in my signature: 5 people succeeded!

Hi RacingMat.

I've seen your project and it's the one i've been following closer.

What are the specs for your motors? Where did you get them and the rods?

Cheers!

It's at the eeeeeeeend of my post!

The motors give 12N.m torque and can bear up to 24V DC
SWF VALEO NIDEC ITT 404.458

For a 2 DOF, it will cost you only 2x35€ + 16€ shipping

Thank you for your replies.

Out of the topic, what kind of welding do you use (ex. stick, mig)?

Thanks

Hi!

it's stick!
And I've just bought an inverter 105€, I should have bought it earlier! it's much much more easy than conventional (shunt?).
