hi all

my name is keith and I am new to motion sims and x-sim was usin g triple screen ps3 n gt5 before.
But now I move to pc and motion with my shed dedicated for it and feel quite lost I have a frex with 2 scn5 100mm actuators atm.
But ive been trying and trying to setup or at least get the actuators to calibrate but I am struggling where to check this ?
how do I know if the software has actually connected to my 2x scn5 vscom ?

I am really down right now as its all sat there I'm the lounge with the other half giving me evils waiting for me to move it to the shed, but dont have power or internet up there yet so want to settle my mind the kit is working first before I take it up the shed and build the rest.
I am trying get my brain to focus and find the solution to at least some kind of visual movement to say I'm in the right track, I swear its laughing at me.

I am only wanting to test that all kit is working as it should and nothing has failed.
is there a check to see in the software that the vscom has connected and recognised by the software ?
vscom is showing com 9 in device manager as a usb serial port.
I ashume that is ok.

I am so happy for the future of all this but I guess being new to this kind of build is confusing.
I have no idea atm what I should be doing.
ive followed the video trainer but the 3d simforce failed which is common I read but then I'm stuck.

I got the rock and ride part working via game moving as was pointed to using this instead if 3d simforce didn't work so I ashume this is all good to this point except the 3dsimforce part.
now how do I get the actualtors to work to this rock n ride I had working ??? I'm guessing its not talking to my vs com.
also when I follow any videos I follow them to a T and then become stuck as the options to select don't appear the same as the videos I follow but I'm on x-sim 3 I think videos are 2 I think.

just an update.

I have gone to interface settings and looking in the ( all outputs of found interfaces) I can see in there it puts up midi bass shaker freq & volume.
I take it it should say usb vscom or scn5 usb serial or convertor of sum type.

I do have a com 9 setup to which matches up with device manager com 9.

one thing I never did when installing x-sim was I didn't install the hydraulics drivers that came up on the install ??
is this the problem ?

been on this 2 days so far but keep reading and following what I can but feel I need abit of one to one tbh.

hope this is abit more info to help or to see where I'm at or indeed looking in the wrong places. lol

I have more updates to what is going on !!

when I select.....

x-sim converter
interface seetings
start h/w rescan with pnp ticked.

I get flashing light on my vscom.

I ashume this is correct and its trying to talk to the vscom usb converter.
so excited I was to see this but after it found nothing to which I think it should have found scn5 or vscom ??

hi another update

I have gone thru the trouble shooting as best I can tried most things but its getting beyond me now its got the serial monitor stage.

but what I did find was on the reg edit this is my results.

this is totally different to the pic readings on the scn5 trouble shoot no detection of scn5.

latest update

i have now got the vscom to register with the plug in that 2 scn5 are present and it auto calibrates the scn5 when detected.

the fault was the driver to the vscom usb converter, me and my friend had tried early on with install, with lots of drivers for it to which it always said the driver was upto date.
we found a ftdi driver that was newer than the ones we had in and it installed ok bish bash bosh it worked so was all that was wrong.

its taken a few days to sort but the first step taken now, just the head ache of having no idea what next to actually get the thing to move with the games.

hope this helps any new comers with my experience of either a vscom converter or just a usb converter that dont connect the same as i had.

Perhaps you could write down which version number of their drivers do not work and which did

i have this for you, the site it was from scroll past red writing and its the windows x64 version.

nothing else even tried past the com port or talking with the scn5 so the ones on the vscom site you can install there things but just upgrade to this as had found and was instant cure.
the drivers on the vs com site are quite old 2013.

i am new so im starting with no idea what is what atm so me trying to document trouble can or might help others so will post what i can to help.

im struggling with the next bit now !!!
software to get them working and running with a game it has made me stop atm due to no plug n play i can find and a big head ache trying to understand.
