Need Advice - 4dof (?) Rerig Project

Here you can ask general questions about sim building, not related to the various hardware sections

Need Advice - 4dof (?) Rerig Project

Postby flyingvette » Thu 5. Dec 2013, 08:10

I purchased an old video game sim platform. Late 90's era. Pneum/electric platform. Its in good shape. Would like to bypass the old board and control system and tie in all the new good stuff. I'm struggling with where to start a bit since all the posts here are about building up from nothing, rather than dealing with existing hardware. And what is that existing hardware? The main unit is on a three actuator pneumatic base mounted on a electrically driven rotating platform. The main unit is a two person fiberglass cab with steering wheel, pedals, etc.

The pneumatic cylinders are CKD model SCS-N-TC-140B-300 #01384 and the valve controllers and CKD model 2AF (something something) 10. Some pics attached.

So for starters, just trying to figure out what board / boards to buy to get this thing functioning. What are your thoughts for the best solution?

Thank you!

Ended up getting a VM110N (K8055N) and will hopefully have the actuators running tomorrow. Thank you to those who got in touch with me :D

Cool! Could you post more images? Surely it is as heavy as lead ;)

Oh, hey. Realized there was no picture of the entire unit. Here's one :)

No twitch this weekend, but made progress. Still having trouble figuring out how to get the board working with the software. Doesn't seem to be any clear guides (or ones that are easy to find anyways).

Sweet find. Good luck with the retrofit.

Any luck with figuring out the control inputs for the actuators?
Maybe Konami has a graveyard for documentation for old machines like this? (fingers crossed)

Would love to see how you go

Sincerest regards,
DoctorD :)

Haha... no... I've got distracted with other problems on it. Namely, air fittings, but should have that solved soon.

I couldn't get the software to talk to the board, unfortunately. Needs more investigation. There's another project on here that used the same board on a pneumatic setup that I should ping for help.

Luckily it came with the full service manual, including wire diagrams and engineering drawings. Has been very useful, although some parts are in Japanese. Need to find a local Japanese reading engineer :)
