Max 68A Dual Motor Drive Module = shit !

Postby ericRacer » Tue 15. Oct 2013, 19:11

hi,
I bought this module :

http://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Current-Du ... 33806c6614

and connected it with my arduino nano exactly like this post :

http://www.x-sim.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=723 !

and that was working fine with a very little motor but when i connected my big one with no load , it has begun to smoke !
my motor is similar to this one :
http://www.motiondynamics.com.au/worm-d ... orque.html

I think this module hasn't an overcurrent protection like my sabertooth.

I wonder if other people have got success with this driver with similar motor ? :ugeek:

Hi

I have 24v 375w wormgear motors on which I have tried various H bridge types, all have failed so far.

I am now testing the sabertooth 2x60 and the Kangaroo module, I am running with no load on the motor 4 t o 5 amp run, 12 amp on fast direction changes with no problems so far.

regards Terry

Hi Terry,
Do you have the link for the motors ?

How do you communicate with the sabertooth ? analogue 0 - 5volt or Packetized Serial Mode ?

I am not sure but i think the smoke arrived when i adjusted the potentiometer for having 0 RPM (trying to stop the motor via the pot) !

Maybe the 4 Mosfets in the power stage are opened in the same time ! i don't knows :?

i am going to take back my sabertooth too, i have good result with it (2x25amp.).
