What type of pot used?
Can you use multi turn potentiometers on the cards jrk of pololu?

Back again with almost the same picture as the last one. Can you spot the differences? ;)

236

I also added 8 rubber feet underneath the bottom platform

237

And decided to add the extra springs I had to the pivot so I have a bit more adjustability. With a single spring on each corner I had to expand them as far as possible so I had no room to play with different tensions. With the double springs I can test some different variations to see what works best.

Well done there, you may find the motors will be strong enough to use less springs, but see how it goes.

I'm currently out of the running due to a pretty bad inflammation (due to a combination of RSI and strained muscles from wakeboarding) in my right forearm.

I'll reply to the last posts since I'm allready typing this one (left handed), but don't expect too much posts and updates from me the next couple of weeks.

@ne02005: Thanks!

The motors run fine, don't get really hot and the speed is ok. The way I mounted them causes problems, the extended axles gets too much strain on them. Because I had to make new mounts anyway I also decided to go for stronger motors. Just can't mount them atm because of the problems with my arm.

The JRK's do a great job, have them runnin at 20A max atm and the heatsinks don't even get warm (with the new motors I'm planning on running them on 30A which should be no problem either) with the 120mm fan on them. Don't know the settings I'm using by hard, they are the ones motiondave advised me to use ;)

@motiondave: Since I allready have the springs I'll keep using them, all in all it will still reduce the load on the motors.

My arm is slowly getting better and better and the last few days I've spend some time on making my new motor mounts.

New against old:
243

Mounted underneath the platform:
244

So far I've discovered onyl 2 minor downsides to the motors:

1) They don't stick to their position if you take the power off (my wiper motors did), most likely due to the gear ratio being different. No major problem though, this just means I have to start the profiler before stepping onto the sim.

2) They kill power supplies  Testing my motors at 27,5A today killed one of the 30A psu's I'm using. I hope I can fix it so I can sell it because to prevent this from happening again I ordered two of these today:

http://www.ebay.nl/itm/12V-45A-600W-Swi ... 5ae92a13a5

I didn't get to testing the advantages of the new motors yet since my test ended prematurely ;)

the motors suck some power for sure, the JRKS will run 30 amps continuous, I know that. Just set the max current to 0 in utility.
And as for the motors not staying in position after you turn them off, same problem here. I think its the way they are designed, thats all.
They look good, toss a car battery on it for testing and have some fun!

Hi Floriske

Let me know how you get on with the power supplies - I need four !

MCP list the current as 23A but I have seen the spec. sheet from the original Chinese source that lists the current as 27A. The only thing I haven't found out yet is if this is the Stall Current. If it isn't then the Stall current is going to be quite a bit higher. As Zach (MCP) didn't know I emailed the Chinese source, it was sent two weeks ago but no response yet.

What length of lever arm are you using ?

Regards
Iain
