Re: Bass Shaker Plugin

Postby RafBR » Thu 4. Apr 2013, 17:52

Hi, I built one tactile transducer (bass shaker) like those diy from youtube and tested it with music with good results. :D
Now, since I made it as a gadget for my motion simulator, I want it connected with x-sim.

So how do I interface it to my pc/x-sim ?
Here a picture ilustrating what I miss:

hello RafBR !

everything is very well explained in this document "Tactile Transducer Setup Guide for iRacing 2-14-12"
https://www.google.com/url?q=http://www.*/forum/download/file.php%3Fid%3D7990&sa=U&ei=0Ih1UYOdF9KzhAfBm4GoAg&ved=0CAcQFjAA&client=internal-uds-cse&usg=AFQjCNFJHqKlh6JcMJ5cc__ZMJ4ac3iGUw

I cannot answer to your question as it depends : if you use 1 or 2 PC orif you use an USB chat mic for example...

Hi !

In addition to the previous doc, I've read a very useful document attached in this post http://www.x-sim.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=78#p444

So, I followed these steps :
- select and highlight "Bass Shaker" then click on "Open Setting"
1517
then peripheral selection
1518

at that stage, I can hear sound in by speaker when I click on the "Test" buttons :D

then I add an Axis in the Math Setup for Bass Volume
and I add another Axis in the Math Setup for Bass Frequency

in the Output panel / Synaptrix : I linked the "Control Output of Axis" and the "Output Axis Direct" for Volume and as well for Frequency

But when the game is running and the Profiler started, I can see the graph changing but NO sound ...

What's wrong ? Please can you help me ?
Thanks for your help
Mat

Your game is using the same soundcard?

Hello !
thanks for answering :-)

No, I have 2 soundcards on 2 distinct PCs

here is the configuration :
* rFactor is running on the PC1 + Force Sender
With a soundcard 5.1

* on PC2, Profiler is running
and I have an internal sound card with a single stereo jack :

- my motors are moving !
- I can hear sound with the test button !
- I can see the graph moving !
but nothing when I click start

I think I'm close to succeed but I'm stuck here...
thanks
Mat

There is no volume graph.
I think you should start with setting the volume to maximum and test the frequency out of your blue graph. If this works you can play around with the volume.

:P yes, that's fine now !!

Thanks sirnoname
I was a bit affraid of destroying my DIY buttkicker with 100% volume : but that was the solution !

Indeed, it's really cool : giving more feelings, more immersion
buttkicker is a must have ! thanks to Xsim

here are the updated settings :

First of all, I advise you to read :
- first "Tactile Transducer Setup Guide for iRacing 2-14-12"
Tactile Transducer Setup Guide for iRacing 2-14-12.pdf
setup for buttkicker - tactil transducer for Xsim
(1.04 MiB) Downloaded 1864 times

- and then "X-Sim BassShaker.pdf" attached in this forum http://www.x-sim.de/forum/download/file.php?id=141
X-Sim BassShaker.pdf
setup for bass shaker plugin Xsim - buttkicker - tactil transducer
(465.8 KiB) Downloaded 1819 times

And in addition, the following new screenshots are a good guide for others Xsimers looking for bass shaking plugin setting up. ;)

My configuration : I have 2 soundcards on 2 distinct PCs
* rFactor is running on the PC1 + Force Sender
With a soundcard 5.1

* on PC2, Profiler is running
and I have an internal sound card with a single stereo jack

So, I followed these steps :
- in "Interface setting", select and highlight "Bass Shaker" then click on "Open Setting"
1517
then peripheral selection
1518

at that stage, I can hear sound in by speaker when I click on the "Test" buttons :D

- then, in the "Math Setup", I add an Axis called Bass Volume
i use the "effect 57 : RPM rounds per minute of engine"
(you can later add "effect 23 Gear shake effect")
1523
put volume to 100% : 1526

- and I add another Axis called "Bass Frequency"
15211520

in the "Output panel" / "Synaptrix" :
I linked the "Control Output of Axis" and the "Output Axis Direct" for Volume and also for Frequency
this is mandatory : if not, it won't work fine
15251524

When the game is running and the Profiler started, I can see the graphs changing and feel the vibration !!
volume 1527
frequency 1528

Go !!!!

You should say that for effect 23 must to put "add result value", not "overwrite result value" ;)
